Tax Forms and Assistance @ HCPL

If you are determined that 2015 will be the year you don’t wait until the last minute to file your federal income taxes (or even if you aren’t), Harris County Public Library will be here to help make the process as painless as we can.

But there have been some changes you need to know about, namely, that the IRS is providing a much more limited range of tax forms to libraries than in previous years. What this means is that HCPL branches will have on hand only the three basic forms: 1040, 1040A and 1040EZ.

You can order all other tax forms and instruction booklets for delivery by mail, free of charge, online at www.irs.gov/orderforms or by calling toll free: 1-800-829-3676. You can also download them directly to a computer at www.irs.gov/forms.

In more exciting news, we are pleased to announce that the good people of AARP Tax Aide will be at many HCPL branches again this year to offer free tax preparation assistance. Click here for schedules and the branch nearest you.
