How to Make Business Cards with Microsoft Publisher

Whether you need to replenish your stock of business cards in an hour, not a week, you need look no further than Microsoft Publisher to easily make quality business cards. Use Publisher's templates to ensure you’ll get the measurements and positioning correct and that you’ll always have a saved version to reprint or adjust for new employees. August 1st at 10:30am.

Learning Express Graduate School Edition

Is graduate school in your near future? Are you planning on taking the GRE, GMAT, or LSAT test? If your answer is yes, then consider spending time with the staff at Northwest to learn about free resources that are available to lessen the financial burden that often comes with pursuing higher education. Staff will talk about the College Center Plus feature within Learning Express Library and spotlight other resources that can help you in your pursuit of advanced education. August 2nd at 7:00pm.

Mousercise

Do you need to brush up on your typing skills for school or work? Do you want to be able to better interact with your computer? Northwest Branch Library will offer a class today that will increase your typing ability. An instructor will be available to assist students throughout the program. August 4th at 1:00pm.

Website Design with WIX

In the online age that we live in, having a professional website is an absolute necessity for nearly all career choices and business ventures. A great website can simultaneously operate as a marketing tool, a store platform, a display of works and skills, a communication channel and as an engine for branding. Ability Level: Intermediate. Requirements: Must be able to type, use mouse, have an email address and have some familiarity with social media. Dates: August 5th and August 19th at 10:00am.

eMedia & Apps Workshops

A staff member will be available to provide hands on assistance with ebook/eaudiobook downloads through Overdrive/HOOPLA/Recorded books on devices such as I-Pads, Kindles, and Smart Phones. Staff will answer questions and troubleshoot problems that customers may be encounter while using a digital library service. Date: Tuesdays at 3:00pm and Saturdays on August 12th & August 26th at 10:00am.

Keyboarding 101 Class

Learn Another Language with Pronunciator

Pronunciator is a fun and free way to learn more than 80 languages with self-directed lessons, live teachers, movies, music, and more. Pronunciator is free to Harris County Library Customers. Staff will do a live demo of the service, answer questions related to Pronunciator, and describe other language learning resources that are available to library customers. Dates: August 16th at 7:00pm.

Budgeting Basics with Excel

Excel is spreadsheet software created by Microsoft used to store, arrange and manipulate data.It’s a handy tool to help customers keep track of monthly expenses. Microsoft has created a number of pre-formatted formats that will cut down on the work necessary to create a personal budget.. August 22nd at 10:30am.

Signs are an effective and affordable way to draw customers to your business, especially when you create them yourself. Microsoft Publisher allows you to design and print custom signs in two ways: you can modify a built-in template to meet your specific needs, or you can make signs from scratch using the powerful tools and features Publisher provides. Learning how to utilize both methods could mean never needing to purchase signs for your business again. August 29th at 10:30am.
