Business Card Design with Microsoft Publisher

Whether you need to replenish your stock of business cards in an hour, not a week, you need look no further than Microsoft Publisher to easily make quality business cards. Use Publisher's templates to ensure you’ll get the measurements and positioning correct and that you’ll always have a saved version to reprint or adjust for new employees. Ability level:beginner. eMedia & Apps Workshops

A staff member will be available to provide hands on assistance with ebook/eaudiobook downloads through Overdrive, Recorded Books, and other library apps on devices such as I-Pads, Kindles, and Smart Phones. Staff will answer questions and troubleshoot problems that customers may be encounter while using a digital library service. Tuesdays at 3:00pm and Saturdays on October 7th & October 21st at1:00pm.

Smartphone Digital Photography Tips

Anyone can pick up a smartphone and take a photo, but it takes a more skilled photographer to create a truly great image. Taking incredible photos with a smartphone is actually very easy, as long as you follow some important guidelines on focus, exposure, composition and photo editing. Budgeting Basics with Excel

Excel is spreadsheet software created by Microsoft used to store, arrange and manipulate data.It’s a handy tool to help customers keep track of monthly expenses. Microsoft has created a number of pre-formatted formats that will cut down on the work necessary to create a personal budget. Ability level: beginner. Requirements: typing, mouse. Blogging Basics 101

Introducing Blogging Basics. A blog, short for weblog, is a website in which a person shares his or her personal thoughts, opinions, activities, and experiences. It is an online version of a personal diary or journal. People blog for a variety of reasons such as to share their lives, educate others, and make money. In addition, blogs allow writers to interact with readers known as followers by letting them leave comments about blog posts. October 16th and October 30th at 6:00pm

Learning Express Graduate School Edition

Is graduate school in your near future? Are you planning on taking the GRE, GMAT, or LSAT test? If your answer is yes, then consider spending time with the staff at Northwest to learn about free resources that are available to lessen the financial burden that often comes with pursuing higher education. Staff will talk about the College Center Plus feature within Learning Express Library and spotlight other resources that can help you in your pursuit of advanced education. October 18th at 7:00pm.

Website Design with WIX

In the online age that we live in, having a professional website is an absolute necessity for nearly all career choices and business ventures. A great website can simultaneously operate as a marketing tool, a store platform, a display of works and skills, a communication channel and as an engine for branding. Ability Level: Intermediate. Requirements: Must be able to type, use mouse, have an email address and have some familiarity with social media. Dates: October 14th and October 28th at 10:00am.

Keyboarding 101 Class

Do you need to brush up on your typing skills for school or work? Do you want to be able to better interact with your computer? Northwest Branch Library will offer a class today that will increase your typing ability. An instructor will be available to assist students throughout the program. Ability level: beginner, requirements: none. October 27th at 1:00pm.

Your resume is a document that outlines your experiences—professional, academic, extracurricular —and the skills you have acquired as a result. The impact of your resume depends both on the skills you choose to include and the way you match those skills to the position description.
