Technology Topics for September

Texas Legal Forms

Database class that focused on the most extensive free forms site available to library patrons. Thousands of legal forms available with more forms being added daily. Official, State Specific, Federal, Business, Personal, Real Estate and General forms covering hundreds of legal subjects and issues. September 11th, at 6:00pm

eMedia & Apps Workshops

A staff member will be available to provide hands on assistance with ebook/eaudiobook downloads through Overdrive, Recorded Books, and other library apps on devices such as I-Pads, Kindles, and Smart Phones. Staff will answer questions and troubleshoot problems that customers may be encounter while using a digital library service. Date: Tuesdays at 3:00pm and Saturdays on September 9th & September 23rd at 10:00am.

Keyboarding 101 Class

Do you need to brush up on your typing skills for school or work? Do you want to be able to better interact with your computer? Northwest Branch Library will offer a class today that will increase your typing ability. An instructor will be available to assist students throughout the program. Ability level: beginner, requirements: none. Dates:  September 15th and September 29th at 1:00pm.

Smartphone Digital Photography Tips

Anyone can pick up a smartphone and take a photo, but it takes a more skilled photographer to create a truly great image. Taking incredible photos with a smartphone is actually very easy, as long as you follow some important guidelines on focus, exposure, composition and photo editing. In this class, you’ll discover 12 essential techniques that every serious mobile photographer should know. Saturday, September 16th at 10:00am and Tuesday, September 20th at 7:00pm.

Design More Effective Presentations with Microsoft PowerPoint

Learn to design more effective Microsoft PowerPoint presentations. Tips and techniques will be discussed along with design recommendations and other features. Register today! Ability level: beginner. Requirements: typing, mouse. Tuesday, September 19th at 10:30am. 

Write Your Resume with Microsoft Word

Your resume is a document that outlines your experiences—professional, academic, extracurricular —and the skills you have acquired as a result. The impact of your resume depends both on the skills you choose to include and the way you match those skills to the position description. A person with limited experience, but strong writing skills can put together a compelling resume. Ability level: Beginner. Requirements: typing, mouse. Tuesday, September 26th at 10:30am.

Website Design with WIX

In the online age that we live in, having a professional website is an absolute necessity for nearly all career choices and business ventures. A great website can simultaneously operate as a marketing tool, a store platform, a display of works and skills, a communication channel and as an engine for branding. Ability Level: Intermediate. Requirements: Must be able to type, use mouse, have an email address and have some familiarity with social media. Dates: September 30th at 10:00am.
