There's Something About Jane
Jane Austen seems to get more and more popular each year. Whether it’s a new film based on one of her novels or a new adaptation that adds zombie violence to a comedy of manners, the six novels she wrote are constantly being adapted and reinvented. I’m constantly on the lookout for authors with a similar style or who can write a good sequel to one of her existing novels. While there’s no one quite like Jane, some of these authors come pretty close so check them out!
Original works similar to Jane’s novels:
- Indiscretion and An Accomplished Woman by Jude Morgan
- North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell
- A Room with a View by E.M. Forster
- The Corinthian by Georgette Heyer
- I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith
Sequels, Reimaginings, and Retellings:
- Bridget Jones’s Diary by Helen Fielding
- Mr. Darcy, Vampyre by Amanda Grange
- Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife by Linda Berdoll
- Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict by Laurie Viera Rigler
- Austenland by Shannon Hale
