Today @ Toddler Storytime

I had the opportunity to cover the Toddler Time program for Ms Susan this morning.

In case you missed the program, I wanted to remind you that we have an additional Toddler Storytime at 1:30 pm today.

The theme this week is snow, and I have a fun craft to share. I hope to see you this afternoon.

Fun With Snow

Snow by Uri Shulevitz

"It's snowing, said boy with dog. "It's only a snowflake," said grandfather with beard. No one thinks one or two snowflakes will amount to anything. Not the man with the hat or the lady with the umbrella. Not even the television or the radio forecasters. But one boy and his dog have faith that the snow will amount to something spectacular, and when flakes start to swirl down on the city, they are also the only ones who know how to truly enjoy it. This playful depiction of a snowy day and the transformation of a city is perfectly captured in simple, poetic text and lively watercolor and pen-and-ink illustrations.  It was a 1998 New York Times Outstanding Book of the Year and a 1999 Caldecott Honor Book.

The picture book Snow is one of my all time favorite books, and I always enjoy sharing it with children.

You Can Do It, Sam by Amy Hest

Sam goes all by himself to deliver treats to his friends in an endearing new tale. He and his Mom make a tasty treat for friends, but who will go out in the snow and carry the tasty treats to each sleepy house? In this book, Amy Hest and Anita Jeram capture a child's simple joy of giving, and a quiet moment of confidence that will warm the coldest winter day.

A Hat for Minerva Louise by Janet Morgan Stoeke.

Minerva Louise, a snow-loving chicken, mistakes a pair of mittens for two hats to keep both ends warm.
