Twisted Fairy Tales by Maura McHugh

"Days passed. The birds told her stories of the outside world, and often assured her that she was kind and gentle. Rapunzel never believed them. She knew that she was born wicked and was better off isolated from the world, even if her heart yearned to join it."

Twisted Fairy Tales by Maura McHugh is the newest recreation of favorite childhood stories. This time around they are dusted with a dash of horror. From Cinder Wench (Cinderella) to Pinocchio, these tales will leave you slightly disturbed. If not, the illustrations by Jane Laurie will do the trick.

I went into Twisted Fairy Tales not expecting much and am glad I gave it a shot. The descriptions of horror went far beyond my expectation and the images provided gave such a creep factor, that I read Twisted Fairy Tales in a good 30 minutes. It was what I call horrifically delightful and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
