We the People Display

History comes to life in 1776, one of the books on our “We the People” display. This awesome title is filled with exact replicas of letters and documents contained in many museums. You can hold the battle map for Trenton, letters from George Washington or a broadsheet announcing the “Declaration of Independence.”   Each page is a treasure!

Harris County Public Library received the books as a part of the NEH “Picturing America” grant in coordination with The American Library Association.  Four thousand libraries were awarded books through this grant whose aim is to “strengthen the teaching, study and understanding of American history and culture through libraries, schools, colleges, universities and cultural institutions.
