Where Have All The Bluebonnets Gone?

Each year, local schools encourage students to read the Bluebonnet Award Books, and Harris County Public Library system orders additional copies to meet the demands.  That being said, I often notice that our Bluebonnet display is completely empty. So what is a kid to do?

The library you attend may not have the item you want checked in, but you can order it from another library in our system.  I often use this service, and find that it is especially useful when an item is new or in high demand.  Best of all, anyone can use this service and it's free! Even for Kids.

After you request an item, your name is placed on a list. Please be aware, that item(s) may already have holds placed on them by other costumers.  Even if your name is first on the list, don't expect your hold to arrive at your library right away.  It will take a few days for it to get to you.

After, the library receives your requested item, it will be held for 10 days before it is sent back to its owning library.  For this reason, I highly recommend that you include an e-mail address in your account.  Then, we are able to immediately notify you that the item you requested is ready to be picked up. If you do not have an e-mail address, we will send you a letter through the U.S. mail, which may take several days.

If you are not sure how to place a request on an item please stop by the library.  A staff member would be happy to explain the process, or place a request for you.
