You Are Invited to Celebrate the Opening of HCPL's First George & Barbara Bush Family Place

Ribbon Cutting InvitationHarris County Public Library and the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation (BBHLF) invite you to the ribbon cutting ceremony for the first George & Barbara Bush Family Place. The event will take place at Barbara Bush Branch Library on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, 10:00 am - 11:00 am. If you would like to attend, please RSVP here.

In 2018, BBHLF, in partnership with Phillips 66, provided funds to create Family Place areas inside eight HCPL branches. Family Place libraries give parents and children age 0 - 5 years access to specialized resources, specially trained staff and family literacy programs. These areas help parents to be their children’s first and most important teacher and focus on developing a children’s skills so that they enter kindergarten ready to learn how to read.

The George and Barbara Bush Family Place at Barbara Bush Branch Library is the first of the eight HCPL Family Places to be officially unveiled to the public. The other locations that will open in the coming months are Clear Lake City-County Freeman Branch Library, High Meadows Branch Library, Jacinto City Branch Library, LSC-Tomball Branch Library, Maud Marks Branch Library, Octavia Fields Branch Library, and Parker Williams Branch Library
