HCPL Children's Department holds Mock Caldecott Election

Harris County Public Library held it's first ever Mock Caldecott Election on Friday, January 12, 2007. The election was held at the monthly meeting of Children's Librarians and included Children's Staff from all 26 branch libraries. Twenty-four titles were presented for consideration. In addition to the winner there were four honor books chosen.

The Caldecott Medal is named in honor of nineteenth century English illustrator Randolph Caldecott and is awarded annually to the illustrator of the most distinguished picture book for children. It is sponsored by the Association of Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association. The official Caldecott winner will be announced on January 22, 2007 by the American Library Association.
