Newbery, Caldecott and other book awards announced

The American Library Association announced the winners of top literary awards for children and young adults. The Childrens Book Awards include the Caldecott, Newbery and Coretta Scott King. The Young Adult Book Awards includes the Edwards Award.

2007 John Newbery Medal

Susan Patron. The Higher Power of Lucky
Fearing that her legal guardian plans to abandon her to return to France, ten-year-old aspiring scientist Lucky Trimble determines to run away while also continuing to seek the Higher Power that will bring stability to her life.

Margaret A. Edwards Award
