Gennifer Choldenko.  Al Capone Does My Shirts

A twelve-year-old boy named Moose moves to Alcatraz Island in 1935 when guards' families were housed there, and has to contend with his extraordinary new environment in addition to life with his autistic sister.  Narrated by Johnny Heller.

Beethoven's Wig 2:  More Sing-Along Symphonies

Each sing along selection repeats as an instrumental performance.  Lead vocals by Richard Perlmutter.

Christopher Paul Curtis.  Bucking the Sarge

Deeply involved in his cold and manipulative mother's shady business dealings in Flint, Michigan, fourteen-year-old Luther keeps a sense of humor while running the Happy Neighbor Group Home For Men, all the while dreaming of going to college and becoming a philosopher.  Narrated by Michael Boatman.

Cornelia Funke.  Dragon Rider

Maira Kalman.  Fireboat:  The Heroic Adventures of the John J.

Harvey   A fireboat, launched in 1931, is retired after many years of fighting fires along the Hudson River, but is saved from being scrapped and then called into service again on September 11, 2001.  Narrated by Judd Hirsch.

Wendelin Van Draanen.  Flipped

In alternating chapters, two teenagers describe how their feelings about themselves, each other, and their families have changed over the years.  Narrated by Andy Paris and Carine Montbertrand.

Sharon Creech.  Heartbeat

Twelve-year-old Annie ponders the many rhythms of life the year that her mother becomes pregnant, her grandfather begins faltering, and her best friend (and running partner) becomes distant.  Narrated by Mandy Siegfried.

Patricia Reilly Giff.  A House of Tailors

When thirteen-year-old Dina emigrates from Germany to America in 1871, her only wish is to return home as soon as she can, but as the months pass and she survives a multitude of hardships living with her uncle and his young wife and baby, she finds herself thinking of Brooklyn as her home.  Narrated by Blair Brown.

Jules Feiffer.  I Lost My Bear

When she cannot find her favorite stuffed toy, a young girl asks her mother, father, and older sister for help.  Narrated by Kristen Hahn.

Kate and Jim McMullan.  I Stink!

A big city garbage truck makes its rounds, consuming everything from apple cores and banana peels to leftover ziti with zucchini.  Narrated by Andy Richter.
