Make the Holidays Easier with Ebooks!

Now that that December is really here, life is getting more and more difficult. People are travelling, which leads to cranky road trips, stores and roads get crowded with all the holiday shoppers, and it just seems like you have less and less time to get everything done. All those things combined means that it gets harder and harder to get to the library and get the books that you need to keep your sanity. Fortunately, your HCPL website is here to help, offering electronic books and audiobooks that you can download, read or listen to, and return, without any need to go to the library! That’s right! You can have books for road trips, audiobooks for traffic, and you get this with just a click of a button, no need to go outside! What’s more, we have plenty of sites to choose from.

Book Hunters in Brief #87: Better on Audio

For some, the notion that an audiobook could offer a more satisfying experience than the print version is sacrilegious, if not actual grounds for divorce, institutionalization and/or immediate revocation of membership in the Tuesday Night Book & Chardonnay-Tasting Club. But there are any number of valid reasons that an audiobook could be better: an exceptional performance by a voice actor, for instance, or a lyrical text written more for the ear than the eye, or just a book of particularly dense prose. I, for one, might have actually passed sophomore Am. Lit.

14

I listen to a lot of audiobooks since I spend a lot of time in the car and 14 was a title I picked up recently. The author is Peter Clines, well known for his post-apocalyptic super hero series Ex-Heroes, and the narrator, Ray Porter, is top notch.
