TexCare Children's Medicaid/Children's Health Insurance Program

The Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is a program designed for families who earn too much money to qualify for Medicaid health care, but cannot afford to buy private insurance.

Information about clinics in Harris County and how to apply for the Gold Card.

Breath of Life Children and Adult Clinics

Hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed Friday afternoons.

Fees: $30 per visit for children and $50 for adults.

Eligibility: children and adults with no insurance except for immunizations.

Christ Clinic Katy

5504 First St. Katy 77493     281-391-0190

Hours: Tuesdays and Wednesdays 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Thursdays 1-8 p.m., Fridays (immunizations) 9 a.m. to noon

Fees: $20 donation on first vist, afterwards $10 donation.  Immunization is $8.

Eligibility: children and adults with no insurance.  Proof of income is required.

Tomagwa Ministries Medical Clinic

Provides help for families in the Tomball area for low-income families who cannot afford medical care, lack health insurance, and do not qualify for Medicare or Medicaid.

Vision care providers

The University of Houston College of Optometry helps three neighborhood clinics provide vision care at reduced cost.

Prevent Blindness Texas provides several free screenings each month.  If referral to an optometrist is necessary, assistance may be available depending on income.

Emergency financial assistance
