Workforce SolutionsOn Tuesday, August 22, from 1:00-2:30 pm, experts from Workforce Solutions will be at the library to help you identify the causes of long-term unemployment and develop strategies to overcome it.

New This Week!

Movie 2Two more of our new programs for kids, tweens, and teens debut this coming week! On Monday, August 21, from 4:00-5:00 pm, we have our first “Coding for Kids” session. Coding is telling a computer, app, phone or website what you want it to do. In this program, kids will learn what coding is, why it matters, and how to write code. We'll use games, books and more to make coding fun.
One Tuesday, August 22, from 4:30-7:00, we will host our first teen/tween movie night for ages 12-18. We will show a movie about hobbits, dwarves, and a dragon named Smaug, have a snack, and make dragon eggs!

Community Health Fair

Dental+vision(En español abajo) The Aldine Library and Harris County Public Health are hosting a Health Fair at the library this Saturday, August 12, from 10 am - 2 pm. Public Health is offering free vision screenings and free dental screenings for children. They will also offer free vaccines **for those who pre-registered.** (Please remember to bring your child's shot records.) Memorial-Hermann Community Outreach will also be here with information about accessing healthcare, and KIG Financial will have information about college savings plans.

Crafts for Teens & Tweens!

Shrinky-dinks 2Next week is our first week to host our two new craft programs for teens and tweens. “Craftastic” for ages 6-12 will meet on Monday, August 14, from 4:00-5:00. For ages 12-18, it will be on Wednesday, August 16, from 4:30-5:30. We will have different kinds of craft projects each month. This time, create your own shrink-dinks for jewelry or decorations. Come and check it out!

New Events and Programs for Kids

New kids programsWe are trying out lots of new programs for kids, tweens, and teens. Check out our calendar of events. We are offering Tweens Read, Kids’ Book Club, Kids’ Movie Night, Rising Readers, Craftastic (for 2 different age groups), Coding for Kids, Tween/Teen Movie Night, Weird Science (in the blog post below), an evening storytime, and a new teen book club, “Books ‘n’ Stuff.”
We also still have Animé Club, Art Club, and Game Night.
