'Tis the Season

If the recent cooling in the weather is any indication the holiday season is here. We've added some holiday themed titles to our book display case in the hallway here at the Aldine Library to get you in the spirit of things. Here is a photo I took in West Texas of some red berries in the snow. Season's Greetings!

We are having a wonderful event here on Monday, Dec. 17 at 5 pm in the meeting room.  The local community will gather for the annual Christmas bellsPosada.  At this traditional Hispanic Christmas event, the Holy Family’s journey and attempt to find shelter are remembered. This event is being presented in partnership with Bonding Against Adversity.  Come and enjoy refreshments, songs and fellowship!

Farewell to Ryan

Ryan Fennell has been the Teen librarian here at the Aldine Library for the past 6 years. He created our teen program from scratch and accomplished a lot! Ryan introduced the teens to digital storytelling and other ways of creating and expressing themselves. They won a national award for one of their videos and received recognition in the Houston Public Library's Reel Teen Film Festival.  And every year, they have  created a decorated book truck for the Art Car parade.  Ryan has had a great impact on the lives of our teenagers and we will miss him very much. He won’t be far though. He’ll be working at one of our other Harris County Public Library locations, creating and serving inpicture of Ryan at work  various new ways. We wish him well!
