Anti-Valentine's Day Celebration

There was a Valentine celebration of sorts for teens at the Aldine Library on the afternoon Thursday, February 7th- an anti-Valentine celebration to be exact. Homemade, miniature catapults flung candy hearts. Black roses were crafted.  A piñata was broken and candy enjoyed. Why? To celebrate unrequited love and broken heartedness!

It was a memorable afternoon.

iPad Storytime!

She read Three Pigs, Fox and the Crow, and  The Princess and the Frog.  If you liked them you can get them for your device. Or come in and check out an iPad with your library card to use in the library for 2 hours. These apps are all free or free with advertising.

Welcome, Maggie!

The Aldine Library has a new addition to its staff: Ms. Maggie Block, Young Adult Librarian! Maggie was born in raised in upstate New York. Her mother is a third generation Houstonian. She is excited to be back in the city of Houston. Maggie completed her Master of Library Science education in July 2012 at Indiana University. She has been volunteering and interning at small town Indiana libraries since 2010. Before coming to Houston, Maggie worked as the assistant teen librarian at Plainfield Indiana's library. We are glad to have her on board. Welcome, Maggie!
