Help someone gain a skill they can use for almost anything. Aldine Branch
Library is seeking volunteer tutors to help adults improve basic reading and
writing.
A training session will take place at the library on Oct. 31 from 9 a.m. to
3:30 p.m. Afterwards, tutors will schedule once or twice weekly meetings
with a student to work on phonics and word patterns using materials provided
by the library, meet daily life needs such as reading for work or to read to
children, or reading for pleasure or inspiration.
The training workshop is free and there are no requirements to volunteer,
other than an interest in reading and three hours per week to help someone
learn to read.
