An Exciting Program Coming to Aldine Next Week

Deep Sea DiverThe Aldine Branch Library will have a special program this Tuesday called The Art of Deep Sea Exploration. This is an opportunity to learn about the sub-sea industry through a fascinating presentation celebrating the science and art behind its technology. The show will start at 1 o’clock and is geared for grades 6-12.

ReaderNation!

Attention Aldine adults! In addition to children's and teen's reading clubs, Harris County Public Library also has an Adult Summer Reading Program. The program works like this: read or listen to 4 books and log the titles online for a chance to win prizes. The Aldine Library will select a winner from a random drawing of readers completing the program. The prize will be a $50.00 bookstore gift card.

In addition to the branch prize, there will be system wide drawings. Three entries will be selected from a random drawing of all readers who complete the program. The prizes will be bookstore gift cards in the amounts of $200.00 (for 1st prize), $150.00 (for 2nd prize), and $100.00 (for 3rd prize).

Register in-person today at the library or online here.

The Art Cart Video Is Here!

We’ve put together a video of the Aldine teens building this year’s art cart creation, Robo Dumpty. Watch as they show off their talents. Everyone did a fantastic job!

Check back for the second part of the video. We’ll show you parade day itself. It was a lot of fun.

Deep Sea Program Cancelled :(

Unfortunately The Art of Deep Sea Exploration program scheduled for Tuesday at 1pm has been cancelled. We are sorry for the inconvenience. The good news though is that we have added yet another event to The Summer Reading Program here at the Aldine Branch. Wednesday, July 28th at 1pm teens can come to the meeting room for a pizza making demonstration. Not only will you be able to play with some pizza dough, but pizza snacks will be served. We hope you can join us!

Good Stuff

water fountain

Summer does not officially begin until June 21st, 2010. However, it is already plenty warm outside.

It is important to drink plenty of water during the hot summer months.

Here at the Aldine library, we have two water fountains next to our book display case. You may not have known it, but underneath these fountains, a water filter is attached. Stop by today and enjoy a sip of cool, refreshing, filtered water. It's good stuff.
