Teens, it is time to reformat the planet- chiptunes style. What is the Chiptunes movement? It is a vibrant electronic music scene based on the creation of new, original music using familiar video game hardware.

Have you heard a quote from a movie but don't know where it came from? Are you in the pop culture dark but want to impress your friends with knowledge of old movies? Never fear, Reel Culture is here. Spanning some 53 years, this book offers a synopsis, famous quotes, and memorable scenes from 50 classic movies. Beginning with 1938's Bringing Up Baby and wrapping up with Silence of the Lambs, Reel Culture is a real treat for movies buffs of all ages. Stop by the Aldine Library and check it out!

Staff Picks

The Aldine Library's book display case is now featuring a variety of fiction and non-fiction titles chosen by me. The fiction titles include a mystery and science fiction thriller. The non-fiction titles include works covering Asia, Africa, social networking, and the history of inventions. Stop by and take a look today. If you see something you wish to check out, just let a staff member know. We would be glad to get a book out of the display case for you. 

La Quinceañera

On Thursday, September 16th, the Aldine library celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month by showing the documentary La Quinceañera. Directed by Adam Taub, the documentary follows a family in Tijuana, Mexico, as they prepare for and participate in their youngest daughter's 15th birthday celebration. Folks of all ages stopped in the Meeting Room to watch this moving and engaging film. Refreshments were provided for everyone's enjoyment.
