Aldine Dresses Up

To celebrate the costume wearing season the Aldine Branch staff dressed up as some crazy characters! David, one of the circulation assistants, came as a Houston Public Library employee even though we are the Harris County Public Library. That David is one crazy guy.

Nuestra colección en español

When it comes to the Spanish language, HCPL is covered. All Harris County branch locations have Spanish-language items available to customers for checkout.
The Aldine Library has the honor of having the largest collection of Spanish language books and materials in the library system. Stop by and take a look at our assortment of Spanish language books for children and adults in addition to our collection of audiovisual materials. We are always adding to our Spanish language collection.

Batty for Books

We thought we would give you a sneak peak at the craft planned for Thursday’s Bilingual Story Time. Don’t worry. The craft isn’t as scary as the picture. See you at 10:30 AM in the meeting room!

Come Try a Netbook

Netbook Open On DeskThe Aldine Branch Library now has a netbook available for checkout. The machine is ideal for surfing the Web, so if you’re just interested in checking email or catching up on the news you might want to give this mini-laptop a go.

Like our laptops, card holders can use the netbook for two hours in the building. As you can see, the Aldine staff has practiced a bit on the netbook in order to answer any of your questions. We would love to have your feedback, as the netbook is available for a trial basis.

Registration Celebration

The Aldine Library placed third in overall registration for Readernation- the Adult Summer Reading Program during summer 2009. This year, ALD had 256 adult registrants (this does not include staff) compared with 34 adult registrants in 2008.  This is a 653% increase over 2008 registration figures! Good work, Aldine Library staff.
