Welcome, Julio!

You'll be seeing this nice gentleman around the library a lot. His name is Julio and he is our new computer instructor. If you need help with computer issues, Julio is the man. And he will be offering computer classes in our computer lab starting on Monday, Jan. 13th. Ask at the desk for a complete schedule of the classes.

Resolutions, Resolutions, and, Oh, Resolutions

Happy New Year, everyone! With a new year comes new resolutions, right? The Aldine Library is here to help you meet and keep your resolutions. We are kicking off the new year with a collection of self-help books in our display case to help make a better you! Titles on weight loss, exercise, self-esteem, and just plain being happy are there. Stop by and take a look. On the lighter side, we have a Winnie the Pooh DVD available for checkout. In the story, Rabbit's pals in the Hundred Acre Wood make misguided resolutions to change with some hilarious and heartfelt results. Happy 2014!

The Kitten That Lived!

Or: Maggie visited a cat

The greatest joy of the holidays is getting to visit loved ones. This year, for the first time in over ten years, I did not have to travel to celebrate with my family (we celebrated in Houston!). I did, however, travel to visit some friends before the holidays, one of which I met here at the Aldine Library.

Holiday Hours at Aldine Library

Next week is Christmas! The Aldine Library will be closing early (at 5 PM) on Monday, December 23rd. We will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday (December 24th and 25th). We will open again on Thursday, December 26th at 10 am. Have a safe and happy holiday!

APE threw a Chirstmas party for kids, and it went great!

The Aldine Project Experience (our artistic teen volunteers) planned out a full children's program for this party. They researched children's crafts online. Then our volunteers tried the crafts out to decide which were the best based on kid's abilities, and how fun they were. They planned out a holiday snack menu (hot chocolate, chocolate chip cookies, candy canes, and even a healthy option of apple slices with peanut butter), and ordered the activities (crafts, then snacks, then a holiday movie).
