Save Our Spaceship

Do you know what animals are considered endangered? Would you like to help save these animals and their environments? Then come join us at the Alvin D. Baggette Community Center this Thursday, June 19th at 3 pm, a Traveling Naturalist will be talking about some possible solutions to the threats that these animals come across in the wild and what we can do to help them. She will also bring some animals for us to meet.

Fizz, Boom, Read!

5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Blast Off! The Summer Reading Program has taken off! This year’s theme is “Fizz, Boom, Read” and it has to do with science. We will be experimenting, discovering, and exploring different sciences. So jump into our rocket and launch yourself to a world of knowledge this summer!  You can register online at www.hcpl.net or with a staff member at the library.

Board Game Day!

 

Are you bored of the rain because you cannot go outside and play? Then come join us for some fun board games at the Galena Park Branch on Wednesday, May 28th at 4 pm. We will have a variety of entertaining games, so bring your friends and have fun!

A Little Of Japan Origami Fun

 

Do you have any plans for Asian Pacific American Heritage Month? If not, then come celebrate with us! We will be exploring the ancient art of folding paper tomorrow Wednesday, May 21st at 4:00 pm in the Children’s Area. So come make Origami with us and take a little piece of Japan with you. Expanded Hours at Five HCPL Branches

More time at your libraryOn June 1, 2014, customers of five Harris County Public Library branches will see an increase in their library’s operating hours. 

  • Galena Park, Northwest and South Houston branch libraries, which are currently closed on Fridays, will all be open Fridays 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Jacinto City and Stratford branches will add more weekend hours. They, along with all other HCPL locations, will be open Saturdays 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
