Staffpicks: Outliers

I’m fascinated by books that take our assumptions and turn them on their ear. This is such a book. Throughout, Gladwell examines the accidents and co-incidences that have spelled the differences between success stories and equally intelligent and talented others. Why is a Canadian hockey player born on Christmas so much less likely to succeed than one born on New Years day? What unique circumstances positioned Bill Gates and the Beatles to succeed? And why were such a huge portion of the wealthiest people in history born within 9 years of one another? All these questions and more explored in: Outliers, by Malcolm Gladwell.
