We Do Robotics! at Katherine Tyra @ Bear Creek Library this March

RobotsWe are currently accepting applications for our exciting We Do Robotics program.  This program is for children ages 7 to 12 and will consists of four sessions held at the Katherine Tyra @ Bear Creek Branch Library on Wednesday, March 2; Wednesday, March 9; Wednesday, March 23; and Wednesday, March 30 from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM.   This is a free program that is open to the first 10 applicants.  Participants must be able to attend all four session.  A waiting list will be kept for those who still wish to sign up after the first 10.

This project is made possible by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act (2016).

Celebrate the Harlem Renaissance!

Come and celebrate the Harlem Renaissance on Monday at 4:00 during Teen Time. We'll be making fashionable items from the twenties and watching the movie "Storm Weather" starring Lena Horne (20th Century Fox). All teens and tweens are welcome to this event as part of our recognition of African American History Month.

Yoga Class

Yoga girl Katherine Tyra Library will be having a yoga class next Saturday, February 27, starting at 1:00 PM. The class is open to all people and is free! There will be no mats provided so remember to bring your own. Look forward to seeing you there!

Preschool Storytime: The Letter D

Dog. Dinosaur. Dancing. What do all of these words have in common?

They all begin with the letter D! Join us on Tuesday, February 16th at 10:30 AM for a Preschool Storytime all about the letter D. Remember, you need a free ticket to attend Preschool Storytime, so make sure you grab one from the information desk before the program starts. This storytime is geared towards children ages 3-5 years.

Awaken the Inventor in You at the Katherine Tyra Invention Convention Wednesday, February 24

Invention ImageWho was Dr. George Drew? How many lives has his invention saved? Taste  George Crum’s delicious invention. I bet you can’t just eat one! Discover the story behind the expression, “The Real McCoy”.

Join us on Wednesday, February 24 from 4:30 to 5:30 at the Katherine Tyra Library @ Bear Creek, as we celebrate African American History Month at our First Annual Invention Convention.  Learn about the contributions of African American inventors and awaken the inventor in you. Together we will explore the invention process while troubleshooting our own inventions.   Learn, Create, and Celebrate at the library.  All ages welcome.  We hope to see you there!
