Summer Fun: Summer Reading Kickoff Party!

Catapult into summer with us at our Summer Fun: Kickoff Party on Tuesday, June 6th at 10:15 AM! Come make a cool catapult craft and learn more about how you can sign up for the Summer Reading Program and win prizes for reading and completing activites this summer. 

Summer Fun is geared towards school age children. Families are welcome. A free ticket is required to attend this program. Tickets will be available when the library opens at 10:00 AM. First come, first served.

Build a Better World at the Katherine Tyra @ Bear Creek Library

construction toolsRegister for Summer Reading 2017 Monday, June 5- Saturday, August 5th at  Log your reading and activities by Saturday, August 19 to claim your prize.

Read books and participate in activities to earn points toward your completion!  Reach a new level and earn a prize for every 100 points earned.   How do you earn points? Reading 1 Book = 10 Points, 20 Minutes of Reading = 5 Points, Reviewing 1 Book = 5 Points and 1 Activity = 5 Points.

Summer Reading 2017 is for everyone.  There are programs for Babies (0-2 years of age), Kids (3-11 years of age), Teens (12-17 years of age) and Adults (18+ years of age).

Preschool Storytime: Construction

Join us on Monday, June 5th at 1:15 PM as we kick off our summer session with a construction and building themed Preschool Storytime! You need a free ticket to attend this storytime, so please make sure you grab one from the children’s area before it starts. This program is geared towards children ages 3-6 years.

Preschool Storytime: New Summer Schedule

Preschool Storytime is moving for the summer! Starting Monday, June 5th, Preschool Storytime will take place on Monday afternoons at 1:15 PM. Tickets will be available in the children’s area every Monday when we open at 1:00 PM.

Remember, we will not be having Preschool Storytime on May 30th, but we hope to see you at the Coastie’s Water Safety for Kids program on May 31st at 10:30 AM or June 1st at 4:30 PM. These are ticketed programs, so make sure you pick up a free ticket from the children’s area. Tickets will be available starting at 10:00 AM on May 31st, and 3:30 PM on June 1st.

Coastie Is Bringing Water Safety to the Katherine Tyra @ Bear Creek Library

CoastieFor the next two weeks we are taking a break from our storytime schedule, in order to finalize our Build a Better World Summer Reading Program.  We will be Building a Better World this summer.  The whole family can sign up starting June 5 on the Harris County Public Library website.  

In the meantime get ready to meet Coastie.  On Wednesday, May 31 at 10:30 AM and Thursday, June 1 at 4:30 PM, Coastie, the mascot for the auxiliary arm of the U.S. Coast Guard, will be visiting our library.  Coastie has important lessons to share with us about water safety. Please join us next week for this important and fun program.
