Harris County Libraries Serve as Warming Centers

Residents seeking shelter from the frigid temperatures can head to their local library.  All 25 Harris County branch libraries will open at 9 am on Friday, January 8 and Saturday, January 9 to serve as warming centers for the public.

Closing hours will vary depending on the branch.

The Week @ the Katy Library – January 11th Edition

If you missed our Job Search Seminars last year, you’re in luck.  We’re starting 2010 with another round of seminars given by the Texas Workforce Solutions.  They’ll be every Tuesday from 10:30am to noon.  The first one starts this week on January 12th and will feature the topic: Resumes.

The Week @ the Katy Library – January 4th Edition

Happy 2010!  Why not start your year off with a visit to the library?  Sit in on a storytime.  Knit or crochet with the best of them (or the worst of them!).  Or, this week come to our Hispanic Book Club where you can practice your Spanish while discussing a book.  This month’s selection is El Vencedor Está Solo by Paulo Coelho.

Participate in the 2010 National StoryTubes contest by creating a movie telling about a favorite book.  The contest is open for kids in grades K-12.  Movies will be posted and judged online.  Harris county Library is one of the partner libraries for the contest, so you may find information at the Katy Branch Library or the StoryTubes website.
