The Week @ the Katy Library – January 25th Edition

The IRS tax forms are in!  And starting next week (Feb 2nd), the volunteers with AARP will be here to help you file your annual income tax.  They’ll be here every Tuesday from 12:30pm-4:30pm until Tax Day in April.

Until then, try out this week’s job seminar on Tuesday, 1/26 at 10:30am, covering how to prepare great cover letters, thank you letters, and reference pages.  The local Workforce Solutions provides these seminars at the library, but did you know they have a new office in the Katy Mills Mall?

Diabetes Program Coming Soon

A shocking estimated 5.7 million Americans may already have diabetes and not know it - are you one of them? Or do you or a loved one already have a diagnosis of diabetes?  Join us on Thursday, February 4 at 3:30 p.m. when a representative from Mermorial Hermann Hospital Katy will inform us about this increasingly common diagnosis and how to prevent or treat it.

Can't make it to the session?  For more information about diabetes, check out the American Diabetes Association and the National Diabetes Fact Sheet compiled by the CDC.  The Katy Branch Library also has lots of material you can check out so pay us a visit!

Don't have a babysitter, but you enjoy knitting and crocheting?  Or, would you like to learn how?  The Katy Branch Library has the group for you!  Every Thursday afternoon at 2:00 meet for an hour of knitting, crocheting, and chatting.  Children are welcome!

The Week @ the Katy Library – January 18th Edition

We’ll be closed on Monday, 1/18, for Martin Luther King Jr.’s Day.  Don’t let that stop you from coming in on Tuesday at 10:30am for our 2nd seminar in the Job Search series.  The topic this week is Evaluating Your Skills & Developing a Plan.

Also this week is our monthly Mosaico Cultural, a topical program conducted completely in Spanish.  The topic this month is all about filing your income taxes.  The program is on Wednesday, 1/20, at 6:00pm.
