Book Donations in Katy

BookThe Katy Library would like to thank all the generous people who bring donations of books, DVDs, and more into the branch each week.  As you may know, our Friends of the Katy Library sells most of these donations in their annual sale to raise money for all of our library programs.  Without these funds, we couldn't have crafts, teen activities, summer performers, book bags, food for programs, and so much more.  We also sometimes add donations to the library's collection to replace worn and damaged copies.  If you're interested in either donating or participating with the Friends, drop in the library for more information.

The Katy Branch Library will celebrate Asian Pacific Heritage month with an afternoon of crafts on Saturday, May 12 from 1:00 to 3:00.  Stop by the library and try your skills with a tangram and origami, or make a dragon puppet or a colorful lei.

Nominate a Special Tree in Katy

TreeDo you know of a historic tree in Katy that should be celebrated for its importance?  Nominate it to be one of the 2012 Legacy Trees.  The Keep Katy Beautiful group is gathering suggestions and will be announcing the 2012 selections at the City Council meeting on June 11.  For more information, check out the City of Katy website.

It's springtime, and the ducklings are swimming in the pond at Mary Jo Peckham Park. Stop by the library with your children and check out some of our books on ducks, then head over to the park to watch the real live ducklings.  Keep in mind, though, that bread is not a nutritious meal for ducks. Please do not feed them bread.
