The Week @ the Katy Library – February 8th Edition

On Thursday, February 11th at 7:00pm, you have to chance to become a Friend of the Katy Library.  Have you wondered who these Friends are?  They’re people just like you who love the library and want to give back.  Some Friends help keep the back garden looking good.  Some Friends help organize the donated books for sale.  Some Friends donate money.  We love ALL our Friends!  Stop by on Thursday night to see just what the Friends do, and by all means – join them!

 

 

HUGS AND HEARTS

 Valentine's Day is coming soon.  Join us for storytimes as we celebrate the "hugs and hearts" season.  Toddlertime is held on Tuesdays at 10:30 am for children from 18 months to 3 years old.  Preschool storytime is held on Thursdays at 10:30 am for children from 3 to 6 years.

SAT Practice Test Coming Soon

Teens, you still can reserve your space for the upcoming practice SAT test administered by the Princeton Review, which will be given on Saturday, February 13 from 10:15am to 2:15p.m. here at the Katy Branch Library.  Then come back on Saturday, February 20 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, when you will receive your scores and get tips on how to improve.  Can't make it to the session?  Check out one of our many SAT preparation books!

 

 

The Week @ the Katy Library – February 1st Edition

The first week of February is packed full of special events for adults at the library. At 10:30am on Tuesday, our weekly job seminar will cover the topic “Networking.” Also on Tuesday, the AARP Tax-Aide helpers will be here from 12:30-4:30pm to help you file your annual income taxes. On Thursday at 3:30pm, come learn from a local health professional about diabetes and how to control it. Saturday has a special Black History Month Poetry Reading with Alice Redditt at 1:00pm. On top of all this, our monthly Hispanic Book Club meets Wednesday at 6:00pm, and the monthly Mystery Book Club meets Saturday at 10:30am.

The Book of Old HousesTitle to be discussed:  The Book of Old Houses by Sarah Graves.  Date of Meeting:  Saturday, February 6, 10:30am.  Summary: After finding a long-buried book underneath her 1823 fixer-upper - a book containing her name written in blood, Jacobia "Jake" Tiptree puts aside her hammer to find someone who's got the blueprint for a perfect murder.  Includes home repair tips.
