The Week @ the Katy Library – January 4th Edition

Happy 2010!  Why not start your year off with a visit to the library?  Sit in on a storytime.  Knit or crochet with the best of them (or the worst of them!).  Or, this week come to our Hispanic Book Club where you can practice your Spanish while discussing a book.  This month’s selection is El Vencedor Está Solo by Paulo Coelho.

BE THE STAR OF YOUR OWN MOVIE!

Participate in the 2010 National StoryTubes contest by creating a movie telling about a favorite book.  The contest is open for kids in grades K-12.  Movies will be posted and judged online.  Harris county Library is one of the partner libraries for the contest, so you may find information at the Katy Branch Library or the StoryTubes website.

Job Search Seminars coming in January

Workforce Solutions is offering a series of job search seminars here at the Katy Branch, which will run weekly from January 12 through February 23 on Tuesday mornings from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon.  The seven weeks of sessions will cover the topics of resumes, developing a search plan, creating references, cover and thank you letters, networking, interviewing, and rebranding your skills.  To register for these free classes, please stop by the library or call us at (281) 391-3509.

The Week @ the Katy Library – December 28th Edition

We’re featuring two special programs for adults this week.  The first is our monthly Library Databases class.  Have you wanted to try out Ancestry.com but the subscription cost is too high?  Do you want a Consumer Reports article, but it won’t let you have it online without paying for it?  All this and more can be yours – FOR FREE.  Stop by our Library Databases class on Thursday, 12/31 at 11:00am.

Also, our monthly Mystery Book Club meets on Saturday, 1/02.

The Week @ the Katy Library – December 21st Edition

Even though we're closed part of this week, we're still in full swing through Wednesday.  Come in and try Bilingual Storytime on Monday at 2:00pm and Toddler Storytime on Tuesday at 10:30am.  Or if you're interested in something more sedate, how about the Knitting & Crochet Club on Wednesday at 1:00pm.
