Summer is Here, Teens!

Summer is here, teens, and have we got plans for you!  If you haven't already, stop by The Hideout upstairs and sign up for the Teen Summer Reading Program.  Also, pick up a flyer while you're at it!  Ms. Sunni has plenty of stuff for you to do, so there's no reason for you to be bored here at the library!  If you're between 12-18, join us Tuesday, June 8th, for Duct Tape Crafts and Thursday, June 10th, for Sharpie tie-dye.  Both programs start at 4:30 PM. Sharpie tie-dye requires you to bring your own white t-shirt (and no, you can't use the one you are wearing). Both programs will be held in the large meeting room downstairs.  Don't miss out on the fun!

Kingwood and LEED Certification

Kingwood Library just received our LEED Silver Certification. LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) is a recognized green building certification. To receive the Silver Certification, a building must earn 50+ points out of 100 points. It focuses on five major areas: sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy & atmosphere, materials & resources, and indoor environmental quality. We recycle and there are cans around so customers can join in helping us. The library is in a green belt to provide a connection to nature and reduce the heat island effect. The roof is white to reduce the amount of heat that enters the building, important in Texas summers.
