Moving Week 1 - Moving right along!

The second floor shelving for the adult services area is in place in the new building, and now the shelving for the children's area is being installed!  This week, the staff anticipates to begin moving the library's collection from the old building to the new building.  Take a look at the slide show above to see what's in place, and stay tuned right here each week for updates on our progress!

Almost ready to move!

Take a look above at the latest progress going on at the new library building!  Shelving for the collection has been delivered and is currently being assembled for the second floor adult services area.  After that, the children's shelving will be installed and then the moving will begin!

Video Game Tournament!

Hey, teens!  Did you know that the new library building here in Kingwood will have a video gaming room just for you guys and girls?  We'll have four Sony PS3s and a Nintendo Wii plus four 32-inch HDTVs available anytime you feel like playing!  While we're not scheduled to open the new building until Monday, April 19th, we plan on kicking off our grand opening that day with our first Gaming Tournament, complete with prizes and plenty of games to choose from.  We'll open at 10:00 AM that day, but if you find yourself at school, no problem.  You can come anytime, but we expect to get things going between 3:00 and 4:00 PM that day and plan to play till we close at 9:00 PM.  Tell all your friends about it!  Don't miss this fun, free activity at the new Kingwood Branch Library building!

Downloadable Books and Audio!

This week I did something for the very first time.  I read a book . . . entirely on my computer!  That's right, I traded the pleasure of turning pages between my fingers for the convenience of advancing digital pages on my laptop.  And, to my surprise, I enjoyed it almost every bit as much as the real thing!  Did you know that the library offers access to downloadable ebooks and audiobooks, not to mention videos and music?  Well, we do!

Declutter and Décor for Spring

Join us at the library on Thursday, February 25th, from 1:00 to 2:30 PM, as Ellen Delap, CPO, and Leslie Sarmiento present Declutter and Décor for Spring, a free program offering tools and techniques for revitalizing your home this season.  Ellen will discuss challenges and strategies for decluttering your home, and Leslie will cover space planning and accessorizing in an effort to freshen up your home.  No registration is required.  Don't miss this free and informative program!
