Tomorrow! Gulf Coast Reads Presentation by Dr. Abbie Grubb

Learn more about the Crystal City internment camp, where the story, The Train to Crystal City takes place during WWII. The camp was the only camp where entire families, many of them Americans, were interned. Originally meant to house only Japanese, it eventually also housed Germans, and Italians.

Dr. Grubb will discuss the history of the camp and how it relates to the story of the two girls who are living in the camp with their families. Join us this Saturday, October 8, 1 - 3 pm in the Children's Activity Room on the first floor. No registration is needed.

Teen Button Battle! - Starts October 10

It's October, and in this month's Button Battle, teens can choose between their favorite ghoulish Tim Burton movie. Corpse Bride or The Nightmare Before Christmas? What’s your favorite? Which is the creepiest? Come by the Teen Area at any time during October 10 – 22 to pick up your button that will cast your vote.

What is a button battle? It’s where teens vote on two of their favorite fandoms by taking a button they can pin to a backpack or anything else. The fandom that has the most buttons taken (aka “votes”), they are the one that wins!
