HPD shares Halloween Safety Tips

HalloweenYes, it is that time of the year! Not only are we inching our way towards cooler weather (hooray!), all are gearing up for Halloween, including Houston Police Department!

On Monday, October 7 at 5:30 PM, Officer D. Ulrich will share tips with families on how to have a safe Halloween. This program is intended for all ages so save the date and we'll see you here! Program meets in the 1st Floor Meeting Room. No registration is required.

In case you can't make it to this presentation, Officer Ulrich will visit on November 11 to share tips for Holiday Safety.

"Mythology" is our "Ology" for Thursday, October 3, at 4 pm

Mythology, the study of myths will be the "ology" for Thursday, October 3, at 4 pm in the Children's Activity Room.  Since mythology is one of Miss Connie's favorite subjects, this ought to be fun!  (Just look at the castle and  knights on top of our shelves!)  There will be a craft.

Our Saturday Family Storytime  at 10:30 am is growing! Dads, moms, grandparents and kids come to hear some books read to them and make a simple craft to take home.

1-2-Cha-Cha-Cha: Latin Dance Demo

Latin DanceThere's still time to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Kingwood Branch Library! On Wednesday, October 2nd at 6:30 PMFred Astaire of Lake Houston will demonstrate popular Latin dances including Salsa and Mambo at Kingwood Branch Library. In this hour-long program, participants will see the instructor explain each dance and moves then get to practice the steps with the help of the instructor.

This program is free and open to individuals ages 18 and over. Registration is recommended as space is limited; walk-ins are welcome if space permits.

Paleontology for "ology" Thursday, September 26

A docent from the Houston Museum of Natural Science will be coming to the Children's Activity Room, Thursday, September 26, at 4 pm to bring a program about dinosaurs and fossils.  There will be a simple craft, too.

Day of the Dead Sugar Skulls!

sugar skullsKingwood area teens, grades 6-12, are invited to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by decorating Day of the Dead themed Sugar Skulls!  This program will take place Saturday, September 28th in the second floor Teen Area.  The program will start at 11am, and will run until 4pm or until supplies run out.
