FREE Solar Eclipse Presentation at Kingwood Library

Did you know? A solar eclipse is coming to North America on August 21st, 2017!

To help you get ready for this extraordinary phenomenon, Mr. Aaron Clevenson of the Greater Houston Astronomical Coalition will be at the Kingwood Library for a free solar eclipse presentation on Thursday, July 20th from 2 PM - 3:30 PM in the Meeting Room. All ages are welcome.  

Each participant will receive handouts as well as special eclipse viewing glasses for the big day.

Children's Weekly Run-Down


Our Story times continue with their new schedule! Be here for Toddler Time** on Tuesday @ 10 AM and @ 10:30 AM, Infant Lapsit Storytime @ 11:15 AM on Tuesday and @ 11 AM on Thursday, and Preschool Storytime on Wednesday @ 11 AM. We also have our Family Storytime presented on Saturday @ 10:30 with the Express Theater performing Sinbad the Sailor. Climb aboard this hilarious high seas adventure about an adolescent girl who dresses up as a boy to join a sailing ship hunting a legendary sea serpent. Featuring marauding pirates, dancing sea snakes and more laughs than you can shake a sword at!

**Tickets required upon entry. Pick up your free ticket at the Children's Reference Desk before entering your story time. Tickets will be given to the first 30 children and their caregivers the day of the scheduled event.

BUILD: A BETTER WORLD: Join us for the sixth meeting of our Maker Monday Club on Monday the 17th of July @ 2:15 PM. We will be building and creating a new and exciting craft out of recycled materials every week!
We will be having the third meeting of our Tween Game Day on Tuesday, the 18th of July, @ 2 PM. Online registration required.

Our special summer program this week is a performance by Puppet Pizzaz on Wednesday, the 19th of July, @ 2:15 PM. Puppeteer Greg Ruhe interweaves entertaining puppet characters while sharing his secrets used to create and manipulate them.

We will also have our seventh Block Party this Friday the 21st of July @ 2:15 PM!

Teen #MovieMonday - July 17 @ 1:30 PM

Teens! Come by the meeting room on Monday, July 17, at 1:30 PM, to enjoy the movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Discover another wizarding world created by J.K. Rowling about Newt Scamander, a wizard living in New York, years before the Harry Potter books take place.

Tomorrow! Create-A-Design: 3-D Print Open Lab

Do you have a design in mind? Join us for 3-D open lab using the Web-based program TinkerCad. Class participants 3-D design prints are free. For more information, please contact Adult Services at 281-360-6804.

**This class is for adults 18 and up. If you are interested in 3-D Classes for teens and children, please call the library and ask for Children or Teen Services.

The teens had a lot of fun last night solving the riddles and deciphering clues to find the loot in our Escape Room Challenge! Both groups solved their way to a sweet and yummy reward.

Did you miss all the excitement last night? Don’t worry, there are still many more teen events coming up in July and August. You can watch movies, make your own journal light up with LED’s, or build a Mechanical Hand. Then, on Friday, July 29 at 6:00 PM, be sure to come to our Teen Harry Potter Lock-In!
