American Pastime is based on a true story about Japanese Americans in an internment camp in Utah during World War II. Though the topic is a tragic part of our nation's history, the movie is uplifting and inspiring. The running time is 1 hour and 45 minutes; the movie is not rated, but a suggested audience is PG-13. Popcorn and refreshments.

This movie will be shown as a part of the Gulf Coast Reads program. The title selected for this year is The Train to Crystal City by Jan Jarboe Russell, which tells the true but little known story about an internment camp in Texas during World War II.
