July Book Display: "Out is IN"!

Photo of outdoor activity book display at La Porte Community LibraryJuly is National Park & Recreation Month, as sponsored by the National Recreation and Park Association. The theme for 2014 is “Out is IN” and the program encourages getting outside and enjoying the great outdoors.

For obvious reasons, getting outdoors in July in Texas often involves water sports!

Our book display this month features books on outdoor activities, such as: Canoeing and Kayaking Houston Waterways by local author Natalie H. Wiest; Go Surf With Live-Action DVD Coaching by Tim Baker; Flyfisher’s Guide to the Texas Gulf Coast by Colby Sorrells; Water Skiiing and Wakeboarding by Ben Favret; and Sailing For Dummies by J. J. and Peter Isler. Other sports represented in our display are tennis, skateboarding, and soccer. The library also has books and DVDs on other outdoor activities, such as visiting state and national parks, hiking, gardening, etc.

See You Outside! “Out is IN”!
