Cat in the Hat Visits Preschool Storytime

In honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday, a very special character visited with the children at Preschool Storytime. The Cat in the Hat greeted the children as Mr. D. read from Dr. Seuss books. There were cookies and green eggs and ham to round out the storytime. A fine time was had by all. Now,  if Thing 1 and Thing 2 will only come in and clean up the mess!

Spring Cleaning Opportunity

Clipart of household hazardous waste products from JupiterImagesDon't know what to do about all the old paint, pesticides, household and car batteries, etc. hanging around your house? If you are a resident of La Porte, Morgan’s Point or Shoreacres and need to properly dispose of household products which may contain hazardous ingredients, come to the City of La Porte Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on Saturday, April 6th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The materials will be collected at the La Porte Public Works Service Center, located at 2963 North 23rd Street. The collection will be limited to the first 350 households. This collection is for residential only; business waste will not be accepted.

Included in the list of things that will be accepted are paints, pesticides, household and car batteries, and household cleaners.  A complete list of items that will be accepted as well as more details can be found by clicking here.
