A Month in Honor of Barbecue

Photo of book display for National Barbecue MonthDo you love to grill outdoors? Or eat the food that has been grilled outdoors? Then this is your month!

May is National Barbecue Month according to Chase's Calendar of Events: The Ultimate Go-to Guide for Special Days, Weeks, and Months.  The month is sponsored by the Hearth, Patio, and Barbecue Association.

We are featuring books on barbecuing in our nonfiction adult book display. Some titles are:

Mastering the Grill: The Owner’s Manual for Outdoor Cooking by Andrew Schloss and David Joachim; King of the Q’s Blue Plate BBQ: The Ultimate Guide to Grilling, Smoking, Dipping, and Licking by Ted Reader; Steven Raichlen’s Planet Barbecue!: An Electrifying Journey Around the World’s Barbecue Trail by Steven Raichlen; Celebrating Barbecue: The Ultimate Guide to America’s Four Regional Styles of ‘Cue by Dotty Griffith; Follow the Smoke: 14,783 Miles of Great Texas Barbecue; Places, People, Secrets, and Recipes! by John DeMers.

Check out books to hone your grilling skills, plan outdoor get-togethers, or discover the many good places in Texas to eat barbecue.

See ya around the grill!

Author Alerts

Yesterday I had a customer asking to place a request on the latest book of her favorite author. It was so new that we did not have an order record for a request. Then I thought of Authors Alerts. Here you can sign up, choose your favorite authors and receive emails whenever Harris County gets a new title by your selected authors. You will find the link under the tab, Books & Media. Try it out.
