Love Your Library

Jorge Luis Borges said, "have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library."  February is Love Your Library Month.  While we don't claim to  be Paradise here at Maud Marks we love to see you come in and use our library.  You are probably aware of most of the sections in the library, but did you know that we have a Classic Book section, a Reference Book section, and a Western Book section?  We also have many programs and activities going on every month.  You can down load books for free through our ebook programs and a new program that we are offering, Hoopla, you can access music, movies, TV programs, and books on tape. We also have a newsletter that we will send to your email.  All you have to do is sign up!  It is a great way to keep up with everything that goes on here!  Be sure to come by and see us this month to feel the love.  Or check out our programs or a book or two. :)

Looking, Looking... Found!

I love this graphic... books, books everywhere. Harris County Public Library has over 2 million items available, but there might be a few we do not have. That’s why we offer a service called Interlibrary Loan. We can request a book or audio book for you from other libraries in the country. It could take a week or longer for the book to arrive, however, it is well worth the wait for a book that may not be available at your local library. Browse our catalog first to make sure we do not have it. Also, the title must be at least 6 months post-publication. Get your library card ready because the book can then be requested on-line or with a librarian at the library. It’s best to have an email address on your account for notifications. Due dates can vary depending on the lending library. Some books can be renewed and some cannot. Don’t give up until you give our Interlibrary Loan service a try. That book you want could be just around the corner. Call and speak to a librarian if you have any questions.  281-492-8592

Home Sweet Home

Are you a Harris County resident that is ready to call a home your own? Are you uncertain or nervous about the finances required for home ownership in Harris County? Great news, Harris County’s Community Service Department will be having a Home Ownership Program this Saturday, January 31st at the Maud Marks Library at 10:00 AM.

"When You Care Enough"

To quote a popular greeting card company, “When you care enough to send the very best”, you send the best card you can find.  What says “I care” more than a handmade card?  It says to the recipient that you cared enough to take the time to create something just for them.  Tuesday, February 10th , 2 pm – 4 pm here at Maud Marks you will be making beautiful valentine cards for your loved ones.   There will be several to choose from so you can make a different card for everyone on your list!  Pease register here so I will have enough templates for everyone.  Everything is provided so come and have a good time with us!  Hope to see you there!
