Texas 2 X 2 Books

The 2 X 2 reading list is a project of the Children's Round Table, a unit of the Texas Library Association and is a list of 20 books recommended for children age 2 to grade 2. The 2014 books are arriving at the library now.

I Dare You Not to Yawn by Helene Boudreau is sure to delight readers with its hilarious tale. Come check it out.

It's Murder and Sweets!

Next Wednesday, May 21 at 2 pm the Just Desserts Mystery Book Club will be meeting here at Maud Marks.  We will be discussing The Girl is Murder by Kathryn Haines.  Iris Anderson is only 15 and wants to help her dad with his detective agency. (sound familiar Veronica Mars fans?) This is the first in the series so you don't want to miss out.  Add to the fun by bringing your favorite dessert to eat while we discuss whether the villains got their "just desserts!"

Be Your Own Boss

Have you always wanted to start your own business but weren't sure how?  The Maud Marks Library can help with that!  Join us this Saturday, May 17 at 2 PM as we learn everything we need to know to start our small business.  SCORE, a volunteer group who offer business counseling to small business owners, will be here to show you how it’s done.  Some of the topics covered include choosing a business entity, the right location, business expenses and deductions, employees vs. subcontractors, financial organization (setting up your books), forms, websites and more.  Like many of our adult programs, pre-registration is required to click here to let us know that you will be joining us.
