Hot as weather

/

Summer is sizzling hot at Maud Marks Library. There are special activities and programs for every age, new born to seniors  every week thru August 6. Bricks4Kids LEGO Building on Wednesday June 22 was a big hit with school age children. Tickets for the two shows at 2:pm and 3:15 pm were all given out by noon.

Children (and parents too) if you are still looking for more creative ways, check it out on our website www.hcpl.net. There are several books on this subject. One of the newest titles is LEGO: A LOVE STORY.

A Shout-Out To Our Volunteers

We would like to thank all of our great volunteers for taking time from your busy summer schedule to help out at the library. We are now into the third week of our Summer Reading Program, and it is progressing smoothly largely due to your help.  Thank you again for sharing your time with us.  You are all amazing volunteers!

FRIENDS OF THE MAUD SMITH MARKS LIBRARY BOOK SALE BARGAIN

Are you looking for a bargain?  We’ve got the best deal in town.  Nothing over $1.00.

The Friends of the Maud Smith Mark’s Library are having a book sale on Saturday, June 25th starting at 10:00 A.M.

I would just like to brag on this special group of volunteers for a little bit.  It takes a lot of time and energy to sort, store, set up, and sell the books for these sales.   I estimate about 1,000 volunteer  hours  to maintain the book sales throughout the year.

Congratulations Toby!

The Maud Marks Library would like to congratulate Toby Yuen, winner of the 2011 Friends of the Maud Marks Library Scholarship.  The scholarship recognizes graduating high schools seniors who have given their all while volunteering at the Maud Marks Library.

Toby  has volunteer at the library for several years, putting in hours of shelving and helping set up and take down our Friends booksale.

Congratulations, Toby!  Good luck in all your future endeavors.
