CHARITY, LIBRARIAN AND A RENAISSANCE WOMAN

I would describe our Children's Librarian, Charity James, as a real Renaissance Woman.  She is a person of expertise that spans a significant number of different subjects.  Charity has been at the Maud Smith Marks Library going on 9 years.  She is known for her skills as a Children's Librarian and her love of children of all ages.  I thought you might like to know that she got her Masters of Library and Information Science at UT-Austin.  Her undergraduate study was music, which she still uses in her storytimes.  She is a member of the Ft Bend Symphony.  Her taste in music is very eclectic.  You never know what she will be listening to next.  She enjoys Swing dancing, and has been a member of a Renaissance Dancing Troup.  Her seamtress skills have been used to make her attire for the troup and all the costumes  her 2 daughters have needed through the years. Charity is particularly interested in retro designs o

Maud Marks ... Books and beyond

The Maud Marks' collection extends beyond reading materials. As customers walk in the door they see a glass cabinet displaying objects of interests.  One time there was  a special collection of medals from our local  veterans; another time just collections of simple pleasure - trains, dolls, tea cups, hot wheels (which brought quite an excitment among young customers)

Fall Festival Season Has Arrived.

Fall is my favorite season. I love the crisp apples, hot cider, pumpkin pie, football games and all the fall festivals. Be sure to mark your calender for Friday, Oct. 1 when Maud Marks host our annual Hispanic Heritage Festival. Events start at 2pm with Crafts, Salsa Danicng and a Quincinera Seminar at 3:30 pm. Should be lots of fun for all ages.
