Pokemon Go @ North Channel Library

Pokemon!! Gotta catch 'em all!! Have you downloaded the Pokemon Go app?
We have plenty of Pokemon here at North Channel Library.
We are a Pokestop so be sure to drop by anytime, (even after hours), to collect your Pokeballs, Raspberries, and Potions. Be on the lookout for the lures that are dropped throughout the day.
Be sure to let staff know your Level and your favorite Pokemon that you have caught, evolved, or hatched.

Crocodile Encounter!

Are you scared of our "reptilian friends"? Well don't be! Overcome your fears and view live animals such as alligators, crocodiles, turtles, tortoises, monitors and snakes at North Channel Library this Wednesday, July 13 at 2:30pm! Crocodile Encounter offers the biggest crocodile show in the Houston area and will be right here in the Children's Area-no tickets are necessary. The program is recommended for ages 4 and up.

Teen SRP--Coming Up @NC

The Teen Summer Reading Program is rolling quickly by.  Swing by the North Channel Branch on Tuesday, July 12th,  to make a story kit.  Then, bring your imagination for an epic charades battle on Thursday, July 14th.  Teen programs start at 4:30 pm in the meeting room.

Don't forget to log your books and activities. 

Kids Get Healthy at the North Channel Library

hcphesStarting this Friday, July 8th, the North Channel Library is partnering with Harris County Public Health & Environmental Services (HCPHES) for a free healthy living program for children, We Can! (Ways to Enhance Children's Activity & Nutrition). We Can! is a National Institutes of Health educational program designed to give parents, caregivers, and entire communities a way to help children and adolescents learn about choosing healthy food and increasing physical activity all while having fun! Healthy snacks will be provided and there will be chances to win awesome prizes!

We invite you to participate in this fun, interactive program at the library on the following Fridays: July 8, July 15, July 22, July 29 and August 5th from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm. You must attend the first program on July 8th to register. The program is aimed at parents and children ages 5-18.

ESL Tutor Training at North Channel Library

tutor trainingAre you interested in helping your neighbors learn English? Become a volunteer ESL tutor at Harris County Public Library. No teaching experience necessary. We provide the space and materials. You provide the time and the desire to help.


North Channel Library will be hosting an ESL Tutor Training session Saturday, July  23rd from 10 am to 3 pm. To register, call 713-274-6600.
