TASTE OF AFRICA @ YOUR LIBRARY!

Come try a "Taste of Africa" as we celebrate African American History Month on Monday, February 1st from 3 to 5 pm in the Meeting Room. We will offer coffee, juice and finger foods from Africa so that you can sample the many flavors that traveled to America. If you were born in Africa and have special treats, photographs or items you would like to share with the community, please contact Carolyn or Christina. We would love to have you add to the fun! And for kids, we will have an African craft to make!

A History of Tea Program

Celebrate Hot Tea Month at the North Channel Library. On Friday, January 29th at 1:00 pm, a speaker from the Harris County Master Gardeners Association will talk about the history of tea. We will also discuss how to grow your own herbal tea and enjoy tasting a variety of teas. We hope you join us! For more information, please call 281-457-1631.

Tax assistance on its way

Does the thought of preparing your taxes leave you quaking in your boots?  Does the thought of filling out form after form make your mouth run dry?  Have no fear, tax assistance is here!  The wonderful volunteers from AARP will be visiting the North Channel Library again this year to help you fill out your tax forms.  Beginning February 4th, these brave souls will be available from noon to 4 pm every Thursday up to and including April 15th.    Please keep in mind that the volunteers are only able to see about 20-30 customers per day, so registration is required.  Sign up is only available on tax assistance days beginning when the library opens at 10 am and you must sign up in person.    Also, please remember to bring all of your documents with you.  It is especially helpful if you are able to

EXERCISE @ YOUR LIBRARY!

Need to shape up in the New Year? In addition to checking out an exercise book or video, consider volunteering at the North Channel Library. You can see all our new books and DVD's as you lift and shelve them! This will increase your mental AND physical agility! We are looking for the few, the proud, the brave adults who can help us shelve materials weekday mornings. Ask for Christina or Carolyn to volunteer. Start your day out right with a Library workout!

Tax forms have arrived

It's that time of year again-tax season.  The North Channel Library has many of the tax forms you will need to file your taxes.  Look for them in the library's lobby.  If you need assistance locating a tax form, please let us know!
