Senior Social This Saturday

Board GamesThe Northwest Branch Library is declaring this Saturday as Senior Saturday! To celebrate we are inviting all seniors to come and socialize around a number of games. Join us as we break out games like Monopoly, Sudoku, Scrabble and table tennis.

The festivities begin at 12:30 PM, Saturday, July 23.

From Magic to Mad

MAD Science Logo Courtesy of MAD ScienceFor those of you who where looking to our visit from The Magic School Bus this coming Saturday, we regret to share that Ms. Frizzle had to cancel. She is feeling a little under the weather. Get better, Ms. Frizzle. We'll miss you!

Fortunately, the people over at MAD Science Show have agreed to fill in for the day. The show will be highly interactive with fascinating science demonstrations such as chemical reactions and bubbling potions. Young scientists will be inspired and entertained. The program will be Saturday, July 16, at 2:00 PM and is for ages 5-11. Space is limited, so come thirty minutes early to get your free ticket.

When I Grow Up I Want to Be The Doctor

Doctor Who Comics Day LogoSince tomorrow is Doctor Who Comic Day, here at the Northwest Branch Library we thought we should hold a bit of a celebration for the longest running Science Fiction show on TV. Teens and families, come join us as we make sonic screwdrivers and learn to write our names in Gallifreyan.

We'll start at 1:00 PM tomorrow, July 9. Whether you think bow ties are cool or if you're more of a long scarf person, join us!

Also checkout the free Doctor Who comics through Hoopla. You just need your library card.

Yoga Has No Age

Kids doing yogaHere at the Northwest Branch Library it is never too early to stay fit. That's why we have Yoga Kids!

Presented by Pure Balance Yoga kids will learn to stretch, breath and move to promote health. This is a great way for your kids to learn something new, gain confidence doing it, and have too.

The next session will be Monday, July 11, at 2:00 PM. Space is limited, and a ticket is required. Tickets are issued at our service desk 30 minutes prior to the start of the show. Kids aged 6-11 years old can participate and yoga mats are provided, but you are welcome to bring your own mat.

LEGO Robotics!

Lego PileTeens, there's no better way to come off the 4th of July weekend than to join us for some LEGO building. But wait, there is. Join us for some LEGO ROBOT building! That's right with LEGO's WeDo kits you not build things, but you tell them what to do too!

So join us Tuesday, July 5, at 4:00 PM for our free LEGO WeDo robotics workshop. It's a great opportunity to learn some engineering, creativity, and teamwork.

The library would like to thank the American Association of University Women (AAUW) for donating the WeDo kits. For years they have been a generous supporter of the library.
