Celebrate Hispanic Heritage With A Book

September 15th - October 15th is Hispanic Heritage Month.  Are you looking for a way to celebrate? Why not celebrate by reading a book?

Hispanic Heritage Month @ The Library

BOLT (Board of Library Teens) will present a Puppet Show based on Hispanic Folklore.

Pre-School Storytime Songs this Week

As many of you know, Ms Susan is on vacation this week, and I had the opportunity to cover her programs. One of the songs we sang, was the "Letter Sound Song."  I like to teach this song to children who already have mastered letter recognition skills, which is the ability to recognize and name the letters in our alphabet.

Below are the words to the song and a suggested book that will pair nicely with it. Please be aware that this song only works with consonant  and short vowel sounds. Therefore, you will want to avoid using blends and long vowels. Examples of how letters sound.

Music @ Storytime

I use music in my storytimes because it supports the developmental and emotional needs of young children. Music is a universal language that everyone can appreciate.

I hope that you are able to visit one of our programs, but if you are unable to make it, I would like  to encourage you to try a few new songs and fingerplays at home. Below are some favorites that the children enjoy.

Pokemon Club Meets Every Last Thursday Of The Month @ 4 pm

Children ages 7 to 10 years old are invited to join our Pokemon Club.
This meeting will be a great opportunity to meet other players and share ideas. Please make sure to bring your Nintendo DS, games, trading cards, and anything else you would like to share and discuss.

Our next meet will meet on Thursday, August 25th.
