Halloween Craft Party




Join us at 4PM on Friday, October 26th, for a Halloween Craft Party.  There will be treats and crafts for children of all ages.  Projects include paper plate ghosts, plastic lid monsters, spider Oreos, and zombie marshmallows.  All materials are provided.  Please contact the library, (281)484-2036, for more information. 

Computer Classes for October

The following computer classes will be offered in October:

*MS Word I - presented on 10/08/12 - 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

*MS Word II - presented on 10/10/12 - 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

*MS Word III - presented on 10/22/12 - 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

*MS Word IV - presented on 10/24/12 - 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

You must attend Part I in order to register for Part II, III, IV respectively.

Ask at the reference desk or call the library at 281-484-2036 for registration details.  Class size is limited to 8 students, so please sign-up as soon as possible.

*These are not classes for beginners.  Some basic computer knowledge is required.


Volunteers needed for adult literacy, ESL

Reading, writing or speaking English can be used for most anything – from getting around on a day to day basis to gaining work or school opportunities for oneself or family.  Learn how you can help adults improve their literacy skills.  Parker Williams Branch Library hosts an orientation for volunteer tutors on Monday, October 8 from 6 to 9 p.m.  For more information, call 281-484-2036.

Book "Bag" Sale!

The Friends of the Parker Williams Branch Library will be having a book sale on Saturday, September 29th, from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. This will be a book “bag” sale. Come and fill up a plastic bag with books for just $3.00, or fill up a paper bag with books for just $6.00. There will be hundreds of paperbacks and hardbacks to choose from. Bags will be furnished by the Friends.
Other items for sale include CD’s, DVD’s, cassettes, and VHS.

Winner of Parker Williams Adult Summer Reading Drawing




Congratulations to Velia Tudon, winner of a $30.00 Amazon gift card at the Parker Williams Branch. Ms. Tudon’s name was chosen randomly in the Adult Summer Reading prize drawing.  “Since I’m a recent retiree this was my first time to join and I was excited to finally have the time to do this.  I’m looking forward to next summer.”  When asked about her plans for the gift card, Ms. Tudon said she will be applying the funds toward the purchase of a Kindle Fire.
