Harris County Public Library Seeks Citizenship Tutors

Would you consider helping someone become a U.S. Citizen?  A little of your time can make a huge difference.

Harris County Public Library will begin offering free citizenship classes this month.  We are in need of volunteers to help teach the classes in this program, to be held in various library locations.  Volunteers are required to attend a 3-hour HCPL Citizenship Tutor Training.  Training topics will include eligibility requirements, the citizenship process, the Naturalization test and Civics.

The initial training opportunity will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Parker Williams Branch Library, located at 10851 Scarsdale Boulevard, Suite 510, Houston, TX 77089.  For more information, or to register, call Alisha Hall at 713-749-9000 or email alisha_hall@hcpl.net.


Help adults gain U.S. citizenship

Parker Williams Branch Library will host a free training session for volunteer instructors on Thursday, January 22 from 1 to 4 p.m. As an instructor, you would be helping a small group of adults prepare for their citizenship interview.

Movie Time for Adults

Looking for something different to watch?  Are you a fan of Alfred Hitchcock?  If so, join us on Friday, Jan. 9 at 2:00 p.m. for "Strangers on a Train" and on Friday, Jan. 16 at 2:00 p.m. for "Rebecca".  Movies will be shown in the library meeting room.  Popcorn will be served.
