Reading Pays Off

Cynthia Sanders' love of reading paid off this week. 

The Houston resident who spends a lot of Saturdays at Parker Williams Branch Library won a $50 Amazon gift card in a drawing for adults who read four or more books during the summer reading program, Reader Nation. One lucky winner was chosen from each branch in the Harris County Public Library system.Cynthia's love of reading paid off.

"I come in here every Saturday. I just like reading," Sanders says. "It's a pleasure. It's quiet and I can spend hours (in the library)."

Buy Some Books, Bring Us More

Clear off your bookshelves and make room for some new books. The Friends of Parker Williams Branch Library will have its monthly book sale from 10 am to 4 pm Aug. 29. The event is the perfect opportunity to find new treasures or donate some old ones. All proceeds benefit the library.

Free Computer Classes Continue

You still have time to sign up for September computer classes at Parker Williams. Technical Training Assistant Jose Ramirez teaches the free classes, which are designed for adults.
